Hello, I am Phil Davidson, I have been hand-building fine string instruments for more than thirty years. Everything shown on this website is hand-made by me in my workshop in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England.

This website will give you an idea of what I do, the Flickr gallery will illustrate the scope of possibilities. Together with my wife Fiona who is an internationally renowned inlay artist, we can provide anything you want. Banjo, mandolin family (mandolin, mandola, cittern, bouzouki), guitar, ukulele, in unlimited styles and in every tonewood available.

What machines we do use are hand-operated (bandsaw, combination sander, thickness-sander etc) no CNC here.

All carving, bending and inlay cutting are done by hand, all well illustrated in our gallery.

We have collected some pictures of our favourite players, with links to their own websites or clips of them performing, using our instruments.

Thanks for looking, we hope you will enjoy your visit.
